Is there a shorter route? Yes!
The long route for the Moonlight Ramble® is about 19 miles long. The short route is about 9 miles long. A reasonably healthy person, cycling slowly and taking frequent breaks, should be able to complete the long route in about 2 hours. The short route is relatively flat and easy, with a few hills. The long route is very hilly and will be a challenge for an inexperienced rider. If you cannot complete the ride, you can put your bicycle in one of the SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles, and then board a van for a ride back to the start point. Simply go to an intersection with volunteers who will request a SAG vehicle. The SAG vehicles must move slowly through the crowd of riders so please be patient.

Where are the restrooms?
You will find portable restrooms near the starting point, at the Rest Stop about midway through the ride, and at the Post-ride Party.

Where is First Aid?
The First Aid and Information Tent will be located near Registration. On the route, simply go to an intersection and find one of the volunteers with a cell phone or staffing a ham radio who can call for emergency medical service. First Aid is also available at the Rest Stop midway through the ride.

Where can I get water?
You can fill up your water bottles at the water fountains near the starting point, midway through the ride, or with vendors.

Can you help me fix my bicycle?
Local bicycle shops will be offering repairs at their usual shop prices at booths near the starting point. However, because of long lines, it is possible that not everyone will get service. We highly recommend you get your bike into good repair prior to the event day. If your bicycle breaks down while on the route, you can catch a ride on the SAG vehicle.

Help! I lost my friends!
In the event of an emergency, such as a lost child, go the the First Aid and Information Tent near Registration or find a volunteer with a radio. We do not have a public address system.

Is the ride safe?
The Moonlight Ramble® historically is very safe. You will find police officers who will be riding and patrolling the route. In addition, volunteers with cell phones are stationed at many corners along the route. Tens of thousands of people, from senior to young children, have ridden with no problems!

Is anything going on before the ride starts?
Lots! All within the starting area: Vendor Village, radio sponsor entertainment, Hostelling International Booth, and much more!

I’m lost! Where does the route go next!?
All registered riders will receive a map. If you get lost, ask a volunteer along the route to direct you. However, riders should be able to simply “follow the crowd.”

What becomes of the money you raise with the Moonlight Ramble®?
