Group Volunteers

The event also provides an excellent opportunity for group community service. Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult supervisor. Groups of 10 or more will receive a framed commemorative Moonlight Ramble® certificate in appreciation of their service.

A Rewarding Volunteer Experience

The Gateway Council of Hostelling International, organizers of the Moonlight Ramble®, rely on the assistance of many dedicated volunteers to help produce the event which raises funds to benefit the travel, recreation and youth programs of Gateway Council Hostelling.

In addition to a great volunteer experience, working one of St. Louis’ longest running and most fun events, volunteers receive:

  • One Adult Registration – all volunteers except Communications Crew and some Hospitality Crew are able to ride in the Moonlight Ramble®

  • “VOLUNTEER” T-shirt – all volunteers receive one limited edition, commemorative glow in the dark Moonlight Ramble® “Volunteer” T-shirt after the completion of their shift.

  • Water and snacks – all volunteers receive basic sustenance during their shift.

Attention Clubs and Organizations!

This year the Hostelling International, U.S.A. Gateway Council is seeking skillful volunteers to help at the 2009 Moonlight Ramble®. HI-USA Gateway Council is a non-profit organization for youth hostelling and worldwide travel. This is the 46th annual Moonlight Ramble®, in which cyclists of all ages and skills enjoy the moonlight of St. Louis while riding along with thousands of others who year after year make this event a true success. The event is run by volunteers who perform various jobs. A great volunteering and service opportunity for clubs and organizations is marshalling along the Moonlight Ramble® route. Here, volunteers get to witness the Ramble up close, while advertising their club or organization to the thousands of riders that pass by. The club or organization provides their own sign (2’ x 3’ maximum) and two volunteers per intersection. Each volunteer will receive a free glow- in-the-dark volunteer T-shirt, a ticket to the Ramble, and access to snacks and the after-party! The effort also benefits a great cause: the educational and recreational programs of the HI-GC. Please contact the office by phone at 314-644-4660 or email at clerk@moonlightramble.com if you are interested in contributing volunteers from your club or organization.

Volunteer Sign Up

Ready to volunteer?  Individual volunteers can complete our online sign-up form to be assigned a volunteer position.  Group Volunteers should download and complete the group sign-up form along with a release and indemnity agreement for each participant.

Please note: as of August 25, we still need Route Marshals and Cleanup Crew! Help us make this the best Ramble ever AND keep the riders safe by volunteering for these two positions. Thank you!
